Waikiki not to be missed secrets

Waikiki Aquarium - one of the best in world - small & cheap.

Pacific Beach Hotel - Eat and watch the aquarium creatures being fed - three restaurants! Top has sushi buffet - bottom is cheapest.

Prince Kuhio Beach - Free nightly hula show. Also don’t miss an outrigger canoe ride experience at Prince Kuhio Beach. They give surf lessons also!

Park at Pacific Beach Hotel and validate - Waikiki parking is very expensive!

Other islands

Big Island (is big)

You need two days in Kona - must swim with the giant manta rays at night - as good as shark tour!!!

You need two days in Hilo to give yourself time to see Volcano Park - it's best to go see lava at night. (As of 3-7-08 there is flowing lava into the ocean!) Spend your other day in the waterfalls and parks around Hilo.

Puna black sand beach and park has the turtles! - Two hour drive on the way to Hilo. Great crafts.

Maui

I will only fly on a small plane to Hana and back to Honolulu. Maui reminds me of Miami with more traffic - all over. I do rent a car in Hanna and do all the waterfalls and hikes. Gorgeous. I have not been to the other part of the island in 15 years! Hanna hotel is pricey but worth it. There are lots of B&B’s available on-line.

Molokai (forgotten isle)

My very favorite island. However as of 6-08, half of the island does not have water or electric, or their bill is going to double? Due to Molokai Ranch shut down, 3/4 of the 15,000 people-the total population - are all out of work. I do not suggest this island for a while until it gets help or until you go on a tour. There are very safe tours and the people need the money. Great deer and pig hunting. Old leper colony is not to be missed for history. Phallic rock is a must - if you can get to it - and the Halawa valley is so beautiful. (You'll need permission to get in.)

Kauai (the wettest place on earth and one of the oldest Hawaiian islands)

I love this island. So many adventures. 40-foot waterfalls to jump off (pa). The grand canyons of Hawaii. Tubing through the old sugar irrigation water. Jip lining across valleys. The Napali coast tour – do the zodiac tour so you can go in the caves. Kayak 2day paddle around the island in the summer. Takes two days to really see the island. Must do the overview of the island in helicopter! Ask me for more information.

Lanai (the golf course island)

Only two very expensive hotels - good for a honeymoon! Very remote beaches - not much to do.

Molokini

Just a blip but great snorkel and scuba dive off Maui or Lanai.
